| I'm seriously thinking of picking up my first AR, but I'd like to hear from some fellow Tennesseeans. First off, I live just SE of Murfreesboro on 400acres. I have the land to shoot but do you guys do any competitions or get together somewhere and shoot? Any ranges you know of for long distance? I am a big hunter and bolt action guy but the black rifle has been really on my mind here lately. I'm just afraid I will buy one and never use it. I am liking the DDM4 v5 btw |
| Welcome aboard!!! AR rifles are addicting. Do some research and make sure you buy what you want. And like most of us that get into these rifles...once you get it exactly like you "THINK" you want it....you will change your mind. Go to some of the local gun shows and handle some of the rifles to see how you might like it set up. Then go from there. If you are wanting to build one, there are plenty of us on here that would be willing to show you how. |

Yes, we shoot matches once in a while. Both 3 Gun & rifle only. Tullahoma & Oak Ridge offers 1000 yard matches, IIRC. Viola offers a 300 yard shooting line & Clarksville offers a 400 yard line. Nashville offers 100 & 300 yard ranges, FWIW. We shoot 3 Gun in Cleveland, TN at the range there. We sometimes are able to have a rifle-only match at Dickson, TN. Once one begins shooting AR's, many shooters find themselves leaving their bilt guns in the safe more & more often, IMO. There's a gun show in Murf this weekend, BTW. Be a good place to shop & even build your own. |
