Anyone been by there since they got their FFL pulled? Any serious discounts on ammo or accessories yet?
|
| No and I don't plan to. The last time I was there the staff was rude and their range is arguably the worst in the state. There were about 6 of us there buying ammo and using the range so I would think that the staff would be happy to assist us since we were spending money. I've also caught lead shrapnel in my arm while shooting on their range. |

Ok but where else is there an indoor range anywhere near downtown? I'm perfectly content driving to Greenbrier or Hendersonville. Speaking of that, how is the hendersonville range? Its a little bit closer for me. Do they have the cool electronic setups that the Green Briar range has? |

Yep, electric pulley motors run the target down & back. Nice, clean & brand new. I'm pretty sure he meant the motion targets like at Greenbrier where the target turns its back to you, turns side ways, charges you, etc. |

They don't have the turning targets and it's only a 35 foot range. It's good enough if you can't get into the Greenbrier range on weekends due to their HCP class filling it up. |

Slight Hijack. I was downtown yesterday by Vanderbilt University Hospital. Stopped in at a "surplus store on 21st???, couple blocks down from Vanderbilt. Anyway, Gun racks were bare except for some Air Rifles. I asked where the Firearms went, and the guy behind the counter told me effective Jan 2011 they no longer sold Firearms. I asked why? and he replied "No money in it, and to much trouble with paperwork". Did something happen there also? Not that I would of bought something out of there, their prices seemed quite high when I was in there previously. I did manage to spend $10 bucks for a 10rd Colt AR Mag. (Needs some serious cleaning, but will come in handy for Deer Hunting in the states I hunt that have the "11rd capacity law" ). |

They too lost their FFL due to "bookkeeping errors" & have tried to put a happy face on it. They actually offered to allow Guns-n-Leather to rent space in their store to handle the firearms & GNL turned them down. You're quite correct on Friedman's being sky high on pricing. Seems they catered to mostly yuppies from Green Hills & Brentwood who didn't know any better to shop around. Friedman's was also the poster child for the MSM during the AW Ban. Their owner/manager was on tv as much as anyone spouting how no one needed more than a 10rd mag................ So them losing their FFL was about as painful for most of us as Gun City losing theirs, IMO. IOW, not fucking at all. |
