What can an out of state resident buy here in tn? Long guns only? Nothing?

Federal law- long guns only. Anything else can be purchased, but must be shipped to an appropriate license holder.

Under the 1968 GCA, a non-resident can buy long guns, but they have to buy them through a licensed dealer (no private sales without a dealer being involved).  If a non-resident wants to buy a handgun, the handgun has to be shipped to a licensed dealer in their home state.

Ah, yes, the "from a dealer" thing is more than kinda important.

NO private or FTF sales between residents and non-residents.
