This is held at the Dickson, TN IPSC range. Directions can be found at http://www.ntps.org on how to get there. It looks harder than it is to find. I plan on attending & anyone can meet me in Dickson to follow me out there or in Nashville, whichever is easier.
You do NOT have to be a USPSA member to shoot this match! Sunday March 29th, 9am we will have the first NTPS Spring Steel match. Based on Rio Salado's Tue. Nite Steel and Spring Steel matches, NTPS will be 5 stages of all steel shoot and move and shoot on the move and stand still shoot fast steel-o-rama, like an all steel IPSC match with approx 150 rounds. Shot in USPSA gun class and skill class. Match entry is $20
Your score is the total of your times on each stage. If you're heading to a major match this spring you don't want to miss this match! Also, we will be setting up Sat. March 28, so help us set up and then practice steel on the move, standing steel still, etc. for the rest of the day! After the Spring Steel main match is complete we will have a double elimination man on man shoot off for the KING OF THE HILL traveling trophy. Rumor has it Brad won't be here to defend his title so it's up in the air. Entry is $5.00 Questions? Call me 615-497-1555 or email [email protected] Best regards, Brian |

What time does the match start on Sunday? I think I may just come and watch for a while, maybe shoot if I can build up the courage. Sorry, I posted the e-mail as a copy & he didn't have the time in the first one. Shooter's meeting begins around 8am for instructions & whatnot. As for the "courage", allow me to tell you my story about my first steel plate match.
At the time, I hadn't even shot a single IPSC match yet & I saw a blurb about a steel plate match. I had seen this on American Shooter & in American Handgunner, so I wanted to go shoot it. So I loaded up my goodies, my 92FS & away I went. While everyone I shot with was SUPER nice & helpful, *I* got SKUNKED in EVERY SINGLE MATCH! I didn't win a SINGLE one, not 2 out of 3, nada/bupkiss/ziltch/squat. I got SMOKED 2-0 in EVERY single stage I shot!
Later on, I found out this was the "TN State Steel Championship" match. IOW, not a normal match where the talent level ranges from "just starting" to "I am the best", but a CHAMPIONSHIP match where EVERYONE is a FIRST class shooter. And of course, then there was me.
Despite looking like a retard all day long against these guys, I still HAD FUN. For this sort of match one is shooting against a clock rather than the usual "one on one" type of competition. So one won't feel like *I* did at the first one, IMO. Now, the "King of the Hill" portion will be the "one on one" design. No clue if it's a single or double elimination. This will probably depend on how many shooters are entered, IMO. So, bring your gun, ammo, eyes & ears, lawnchair & sense of humor. |
