im going to be near knoxville this christmas to spend time with my son. im thinking of bringing 2 of my ww2 rifles with me in hopes to find a good outdoor range so we can shoot them. what do i need to do to be able to shoot at a range? and does anyone know a good range near the knoxville area?

There's a nice outdoor range down near Benton, Tn. about 45 mins. south on I-75.

Also a nice gun shop in that town...Benton Shooters Supply.

If an indoor range is more your thing...than Coal Creek Armory in Knoxville is nice. Don't know about shootin' rifles there, though.

Coal Creek Armory is an indoor, pistol caliber only range.

There is a range out in Halls operated by TWRA that would probably be suitable for the shooting you are looking for.  It is very controlled, and last time I was there they were only allowing sit down/bench shooting with no rapid fire.

+1 It's on Rifle Range Rd. Closed on Wednesday, and the military has it the first weekend of every month.

There is also a range in Norris,TN it is outdoor and reasonably priced the info is at the top of the hometown forum.
