Hi all! I am moving to NM from VA. I will be passing through your state. How do I drive through your state armed? I don't have a permit in my soon to be former home-state. What are your laws concerning traveling while armed? Can I do it? According to NRA-ILA I can as long as I can't if I show and "intent to go armed" What does that mean? Does it mean I can drive on through and be clear? Please help a fellow ARFCOMr out! Thanks in advance, Tite_Shot_VA |

If you had a VA permit, you could carry while traveling through TN. Since you do not have a permit, you are not allowed to carry a loaded firearm, either in your vehicle or on your person, while in TN. Doing so is a crime. You may carry an unloaded weapon in your vehicle, so long as the gun is in your trunk, the magazines are unloaded, and the ammo is not with the gun. Or you could adhere to the "God gives me the right to self-preservation, and infringement is unconstitutional philosophy" and carry concealed all you want. If you adhere to the 'Reasonable and Prudent' speed limits you have about a 1 in eleventy-billion chance of getting pulled over. J-to the extremes-Hill |

There are some rules when traveling through this state... Do not stop within 30 miles of Memphis. There are ok places to stop but it's safer for out of towners not to stop. When you get about 30 miles east, there is a TA truckstop that is always well lit and busy. Slow down 15 miles before Jackson and stay slow until 15 miles after. When they ask "hey man lemme borrow a dolla!!" the proper response is to look them in the eyes and say "Hey man, I dont have a dolla, lemme alone!!!" |
