If I have an item I would like to sell locally (because I don't really want to mess with shipping it), where should the ad be posted?

Depends on where you are at what "It" is and which paper you would be placeing it in. Most papers it would fall under Recreation-Hunting. I havent seen a gun for sell in a major news paper in awhile. In E Tn we have "The Bargin Mart" which is just one big weekly clasified paper. It has its own hunting/shooting section.

What do you have for sale and what part of the state are you located? Why dont you post it in the EE here?

I think he is referring to trying to sell it here, not in the paper.

Just place it in the EE and state that it is a local or in state sale only, I see those ads there on occasion.

rebel_rifle is correct. for sale items, regardless of if they are local sale only, MUST go in the equipment exchange. they are not permitted here in the hometown forums.

You all could always ask Hank if he or someone else in the TN forum wants to put together a monthly or so newsletter about for sale things and other stuff going on in the state.  We just send an email to be added to the distribution.  I think its good because gets some of the folks that have signed up and dont frequent the board.

Hank, promise I am not trying to create you work.  Just a thought.

that might be an idear. i dont think i would be the one to handle it though, my schedule is too erratic to promise regular deadlines, etc. something on a biweekly basis, perhaps?  we could create special circumstances for things that need to sell more quickly, but if you all want to put something together like that that is done STRICTLY through email, that might not be a bad idea.

Guns I don't mind shipping (to a FFL).  Ammo though, is a pain to ship.

One more:

If I post it on the EE, is it "legal" to post a link to the EE post here (loophole?)?

nope, they already thought of that. no links either.
