Howdy. I am relocating from Denver to Salt Lake City next month. Just spent the weekend there scoping out various housing options.
Just thought I would throw out that I am looking for a rental within easy commuting distance to downtown (trax and or bicycle). If anyone has a lead or advice on places to avoid, I'm all ears. I was surprised at the homeless population downtown around my new office and the general ghetto vibe. Maybe over reacting? I also, uh, wasn't impressed by the young hipsters as I got closer to the university. I explored a lot of neighborhoods and walked a thousand miles or so from downtown. 40 year old professional computer geek, no kids, no pets... But I wouldn't mind a dog friendly place for when I am ready to get another bird dog. Just looking for a rental till I learn my way around. |

The SLCPD has a division just for Pioneer Park, and at all times, there is at least one unmarked car circling the park, and several undercover officers IN the park. There is a ton of homeless, with associated crimes, drugs, and prostitution there. |

After walking all over I decided I definitely have to live farther outside the free trax zone than joe homeless guy is willing to walk... Rose Park excluded, it was exquisite. |
