| Hey everyone, I just moved to Taylorsville, UT this past week. I was wondering where or what are good unit/areas to hunt. I noticed on the way up from PHX that majority of the land is private land. There seemed to be some government land in beaver but for what I saw there wasn't much. Also I see all these little creeks and ponds, but no one is fishing. Is there no fish? I hear there is great trout fishing here, especially in panguitch lake. Any information would be great! I did read about outdoor shooting, some places sound dangerous. Any good shooting ranges or any books that contain good info on this sort of stuff? Thanks |

Nearly 23 million acres of land here are managed by the BLM. My favorite places to fish are Fish Lake, Strawberry Reservoir, and the Green River as it comes form Flaming Gorge.
Here are 2 fairly active sites, one is for fishing, one is for fishing and hunting. Big Fish Tackle Utah Wildlife Network |

Thanks Taylorsville would be one of the places where outdoor shooting occurs, and often sounds dangerous, surpassed only by West Valley City. Drive to Tooele, go south and pull off one of the side roads and start shooting. The BLM has millions of acres in Utah. Or drive down Redwood road to the west side of Utah Lake. Plenty of shooting there, but it gets crowded on some weekends. Juab, Millard, and Beaver county are wide open sparsely populated, and have tons of open fields for shooting. I haven't hunted big game for years, so I couldn't tell you the preferred units. Try Jordanelle or Deer Creek or the Provo River for fishing. Welcome to Utah. |

There is tons of public land in utah for hunting and shooting. The really good hunting units take a long time to draw, so you better start putting in for tags as soon as you can (february I think). As far as fishing goes, you could go to Utah lake or willard for catfish. They should be biting like crazy if the weather ever warms up.
