With all of the protests lately, there needs to be counter-protesters ready for PETA, and whoever else is going to want to protest this.

PETA and whom ever else wants to protest will have a hard time gaining any ground here, as it is a state crime to harass livestock or hunters, be it animal or human.

Impeding a legal killing carries criminal penalties in Montana.

MCA 87-3-142.  Harassment prohibited.

    (1) A person may not intentionally interfere with the lawful taking of a wild animal or fishing by another.

    (2) A person may not, with intent to prevent or hinder its
lawful taking or its capture, disturb a wild animal or engage in an
activity or place in its way any object or substance that will tend to
disturb or otherwise affect the behavior of a wild animal.

    (3) A person may not disturb an individual engaged in the
lawful taking of a wild animal or fishing with intent to prevent the
taking of the animal or the capture of the fish.

    (4) This section does not prohibit a landowner or lessee from
taking reasonable measures to prevent imminent danger to domestic
livestock and equipment. This section does not prohibit or curtail
normal landowner operations or lawful uses of water.

MCA 87-3-143.  Penalty. A person convicted of a violation of 87-3-142
is guilty of a misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine not to exceed
$500 or imprisonment not to exceed 30 days, or both. A person convicted
of a second or subsequent violation of 87-3-142 is punishable by a fine not to exceed $1,000 or imprisonment for a term not to exceed 1 year, or both.

I wasn't to worried about protest during a hunt.  I was thinking more specifically of Helena, and Missoula.  I was just figuring if the Governor has the balls to do this and he gets any pressure from the anti's it would be nice to support him.  You know, actually were the cameras can actually see it.

Missoula is pretty far left, but I don't think they really make a difference.

Helena has a lot of Ranching influence, so there is definately support for the Governor there.

The only protests I've seen here in Kalispell have been in support of Wolf hunting/killing.

The Glacier Park cry babies will be the largest opponents, they will complain about the wolves that leave the park and get killed.

Glad to see we have some support from our neighbors in WA.  Thanks

Used to hunt elk out near Superior and St Regis with a few friends from that area.  Typical heavy timber hunting...but we occasionally got a chance at some truly BIG bulls...and saw elk every day.
Bowhunting was a real hoot...young bulls coming in to a cow call...or big bulls thrashing about as you grunted, etc.

Within a few short years of wolves in the area...the elk hunting tanked. Went from decent hunting to maybe 2-3% of hunters even seeing an elk...much less shooting one.

I hope we can rid the state of 90% of the wolves.

Look at 23-3-115 I have always understood it that a gray wolf casing damage may be taken by the land owner. I know you are talking about MT but I just thought I would post that to se how others read it.

I am from the Hi-line (Harlem) I will always consider Montana my home.  With embarrassment I have to say I am the only one of my family that doesn't live in Montana.

There are "regular" people here in eastern washington that support montana in the wolf issue.  It am just getting the feeling that the "quiet" majority will have to start letting there voices be heard in the

future.
