Alright, a new thread from yours truely. I've just had my NFA trust drafted for myself and my father. He's going to have the thing notarized and then head out to start the paperwork process. I'm familiar with Impact, and I know FBGM and Get Some are down in Draper. A lot of people complain about Impact and I guess I've been an execption as far as treatment goes. That being said... Can anyone point me towards a contact here on arfcom for FBgm and GS who I can talk to? Normally I don't have a problem calling shops, but it's sort of a bitch to explain to people I'm in africa and that's why the reception sucks. I tried to call on of the above shops (Not Impact) and I felt like I was being snapped at. -Wicked |

Call Larry or James at FBMG. Dave can probably help there as well if he's working. IIRC at FBMG they'll recommend a YHM suppressor as a good buy. At Get Some you can ask for Stu. What do you want to know? If it's pricing then you can find the MSRP at websites, there's not a lot of wiggle room on new title 2 items. Either place will be able to order a suppressor for you if they don't carry it. If you want reviews there is w.silencertests.com that has a lot of reviews. I don't notice much difference in brand to brand stuff. Unless you're an audiophile you probably won't care either. Atomicferret here has a Tac-16 on his RRA 20". He run it at a few 3 gun matches and had to reshoot stages because the timer didn't pickup his shots. So even the lower end suppressors do a good job at noise reduction. The drawback of the Tac-16 is the weight. |

Call James at FBMG. I've dealt with him on many occasions. Very customer friendly from my experience. I bought my first suppressor from him about two years ago. He made the process very easy. My favorite gun store to stop and just visit. I'm getting a can transferred through Get Some soon as well. We'll see how that goes. I've done business with them for transfers and firearms purchases and have had great service from everyone in the store. One guy (I think one of the owners, guy with a goatee) has been kind of rude in the past when I've been in just to ask questions. But other times he's been exceptional from a customer service aspect. I've shared my opinion of Impact on several occasions. Never been a fan. atomicferret I believe works for FBMG in some capacity. You can shoot him an IM/E-mail. I'm not sure if any members here work for Get Some. |

Ken or Doug at Rangemasters will treat you right as well. I think the AAC 762SD is the way to go for a "an overall .223 and 30 cal" suppressor. I have a 762SD, Evo 9, Triad, Evo 9CQC, Tac 65, M4-1000, etc that you test out or your father can test out if you like. There is a lot more than just sound when you get into the suppressor world. ALL of the .223 cans will sound about the same. So, make your decision based on $$$ and what OTHER things you get by spending a little more money. I had a Tac 16... sold it after I got my M4-1000 because it is just so much nicer of a can. But it sounded about the same (the M4-1000 was a little quieter to everyone who fired both side by side)... not enough difference in sound levels to matter. Anyways, suppressors are one of my favorite toys to shoot with and talk about. So if you want some unbiased, personal, local boy input... let me know :) Semper Fidelis, Kent |
