We will probably be moving soon all of the job opportunities I have are out of state. The company I moved here to work for closed its doors 1 week before Christmas. It has been ugly since then. I now have great opportunities in other states. Before I get too busy I wanted to point out that Utah is an amazing place and it saddens my wife and I that we have to probably go back to California or East coast and maybe even London. It took us 20 minutes after picking up our rental car when we first moved here to experience the kindness and generosity of this state. We were horribly lost and tired from a day of traveling. We pulled in to a mall and went to the food court to grab some chow and ask for directions. Next thing you know there is literally 20 people around us helping. We got back in the car after that looked at the mountains and realized we found a home. We looked at each other and without belaboring the point a 3 month nightmare was over and we were happy. We have been here 1.5 years and we are really very sad that we will have to move. We sorta thought we'd be here for good and were real happy with that. Utah whether the citizen is LDS or atheist has been just been ideal to us. We love the people here. It has been a long time since I have been somewhere with some many genuine and honest people. Thank you... I have to admit when we first moved here we thought many of the same things many folks do about LDS and being Catholics we had experienced many of the same prejudices that LDS members experience. Especially where I grew up in the south so it sorta sucked that I let that get to me. Anyhow every one of our neighbors are LDS. And in the last 1.5 years I have found them to be just the most amazing people. After my heart attack they were so very supportive of us and throughout the year they are just wonderful to us. I will do my very best to tell people how wonderful the church and its members are if I ever hear someone bad mouth it. They have become friends and the most cherished of neighbors. We live in Farmington and as I drove down the road on the way home the other day. It hit me just how much we will miss this place. Farmington is just about the best town in the US from the folks that live here to the politicians and law enforcement everyone that we have met here is top shelf. You guys have a wonderful state full of wonderful people. Thank God for Utah. We'll always feel this is home. Everyone should live here in this area once in their life and learn a few very important things that we have learned. |

Sorry to lose ya ShovelHead, come back and visit sometime though! Yea, I agree. Utah is a pretty amazing place. It's still small and friendly. The outdoors here just can't be beat. I can hike in the desert in the morning and ski in the afternoon. For the most part, people around here are family oriented and have some good moral values. When I did my tour with the USMC, I lived in a number of states, and no matter when I went I found it lacking in some way to 'home'. God bless BadShovelHead. Hope your future endeavors are prosperous! |
Ooorah brother. No one no where can compare to the Marine Corps Infantry. Yeah we actually kinda dread moving back to California we thought we had it made in the shade here. Even though the wife has family there, we are certainly feeling more at home here, where family is more important and the lifestyle is normal. We did kinda miss going to the theater in San Fran and the museums but we'd glad give all that up to stay here. |

Utah is (imo) one of the best places on earth. I patrol davis county and your absolutely right, it is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I lived in FL for a few years,, and Utah is much cleaner, nicer people, smaller towns and just an allaround good place to be. you shall be missed BSH Ps- if you need to sell any hi-cap mags before you move to CA, lemme know |
