I have been researching places to relocate to and lately have been looking into the
St George/Hurricane area.

What is everyones opinion/advice on that area for both the quality of life and cost of living.  Also, is it a good place for shooters-in terms of places to shoot and types of gun shops?

Thanks in advance for any information/advice you have.

I don't live down there but have some property on the grassy meadows air park in Hurricane and the municipal airport in Kanab. Hurricane appears to be growing very quickly, Kanab seems unchanged for the last decade or so. I haven't visited any gun shops down there. Kanab and Hurricane both seem to be less expensive than St George. I don't use public shooting facilities much so I can't tell you about public ranges etc but there are millions of acres of BLM and national forest lands down there.

Thank you for the info. We were originaly looking at the Cedar City are when we discovered
Hurricane.  It seems like a great little town and very close to a the relativly large city of
St George.  I do really like that whole area plus it stays a lot warmer than up north.

In the winter it is nice,  but the summers are hot.  I have family down in the area, but they have adjusted to the heat and are not really bothered by it.

The area doesn't look too bad considering some of the hell holes I've looked at further south
in New Mexico and Arizona. Getting out of excessive cold and snow is part of the plan
even though the winters here in Northern Colorado have been mild lately.

You will want to avoid Cedar City then.  It can get cold and snowy there.  Hurricane is a nice place.  My sister lives in Washington, but teaches in Hurricane.  Quality of life down there is good.  The price of real estate has gone up down there over the past few years.  Depending on where you are moving from in Colorado it may actually be cheaper.

We were in Hurricane and St George last month.  The real estate prices appear to be
very similar to the Northern Colorado front range so there is no advantage there. However, if
you start to look around  there are few desirable areas left that are cheaper.  The important
thing is that prices haven't gotten too inflated like in the Phoenix area for example.
Thanks for the info.
