Heading to Portland tomorrow for class. Will there be any issues with me flying back out with a properly stored pistol in its locked case. Plus, can I get some ideas on some good places to eat. I will be limited to traveling on the MAXX. My hotel is right by the airport. Thanks for any input.

For all around food and drinks I'd say take the max downtown and just wander. Everyone has different tastes but once you are downtown you can get a good feel for the area and be able to visit the most spots.

You should be fine with the pistol. Just declare early and don't have a random round in your carry-on. Welcome!

Cool. I really want to go to a good Mexican joint. Can't get it up here.

Le us know if you find a good Mexican place. I'm moving there in a few weeks and after 1.5 years in AK I'm dieting for some good Mexican food. Growing up in AZ sure did spoil me.

La Sirenita on Alberta was my go-to while living in Portland. Burritos the size of your head for $5 and the sauted onions on the side are like candy. Not near a Maxx stop though.

Portland is a very foody. LOTS of really good food. Check some blogs online, check the Willamette Weekly or Mercury online, check www.urbandrinks.com for happy hours, and definitely hit up the food carts downtown. I ate at the carts at 10th and Alder a few times a week while working downtown.

Pepino's Mexican grill on NW 23rd. Their El Surfo Turfo burrito is the absolute bomb. Also, Santa Fe on the same street is good shiz.

There's another La Sirenita on SE 17th in Sellwood.  Haven't been in a while but liked it a lot.
