Whats new with me ? My shop is crazy busy and For some reason I am starting a gun shop that wont make a ton of money but should be fun. I am on kid #3 and will have more. I spend most of my days calling Gun makers and making bids. I am paying out the ass to an attorney to review all the paper work for a gun shop. O and I play a shrink slash mechanic slash owner of a busy auto shop everyday.
The fun part is a have a great wife that knows every sunday is shooting . And I am making a brick BBQ/stove for my back yard . I hope to make it big enough to burn liberals in ! Whats new with cape and How did you become a mod ? Who are you cape? Cape you ever come to town have a beer or oil change on me! |

Meh. The short version is we the HTF wanted to make a HTF stripped lower with a bolt face logo as the O and a normal R all within the outline of the state of Oregon. Site staff said no on the bolt face O (trade mark I think) and many members pushed it to a point where the majority of those that did post got banned or moved on. It's been talked about many times and many threads have been locked and others also banned or moved on. Started about winter of 2007 and blew up feb-march 2008 and continued off and on for the next year or so. There you have it.......oh and we did lose two HTF moderators over this.........

Man, I hadn't heard anything about the ORHTF drama before. 'Course back then I was posting in the WAHTF, and that place is dramatic enough.
I've been working a fluff and buff on my 10/22. Got the stock stripped, reshaped, sanded, and polished. Was going to dye it this weekend, but real life intervened. By next weekend, I should be fingertip deep in Tru-Oil. Birch is kind of a bitch to work with though. |

I wasn't active on here when the big "purge" happened on the ORHTF, so I missed all the drama.
Some guys invited me to join "the other site", and I did. It is much more active than ORHTF, but I got P.O.ed when I went to look at the classifieds on the site. Seems I couldn't look at the classifieds because my post count was too low. 
So you have to be a "post whore" to be a member in good standing over there...

IIRC it was more than a mere 50 posts, but suppose you are right: it would take me about 7 months just to check and see if anybody had a 2 stage match trigger for sale. 
I already had 2 people vouch for me that I met at a machine gun shoot. Why do I have to have X number of posts to prove that I am trustworthy enough to take a peek at what other members have for sale?  I did think about trashing people's threads by posting smiley faces in them to build my post count, but that just isn't my style.

Did you read the one thread that I posted on the "other site"? (The one about the PT99 with the cracked slide with which I also posted detailed photos.) I was seeking some advice from the esteemed members. And I know that there are some very expert people over there (BigGunNut for example). I wouldn't have posted such a technical thread if I was not there to participate and contribute. And BTW, I did repair weld that slide myself. It is 100% functional, but cosmetically a bit blemished. I could have posted an update to the thread complete with photos and how I did it, but I decided not to because who would want to learn anything from the "newb" who has been assigned a baby pacifier for an avatar? 
I understand the intention of trying to keep people out who just want to buy and sell. I agree with that aim. I may log in again at some point and see what is going on... But I guess I still won't be able to fully participate.... |
