Does anyone know where I can get a box to ship a 20'' upper? Do ups or or fedex have them? Thanks! I would go into bimart or a local gun shop and ask if they have any extra rifle boxes laying around. I dont know of any shipping place that does rifle specific boxes. I had a helluva time finding one to ship my custom r700. Ended up having to use a box used for ski poles... |

Carton Service
2211 NW Front Ave Portland, OR 503 227-6428 They sell brand new boxes in many, many size, as well as used boxes, they have all sorts of "odd sizes", which are perfect for shipping small or large guns, or gun components. Measure what you will need and give them a call. They also sell huge bags of packing material, much cheaper than anybody else. While it is possible to cut down a box, often they are not long enough to fit a complete gun, and then you are into taping two boxes together. Also, unless you have the special tool that scores the carton, when you bend it, it will not bend in a straight line, so you will wind up with some abomination that does not have a structural strength of a rigid box. I much rather spend $5 and get a new well fitting box to protect the gun in shipment. Also, don't forget that shippers will bill you for a dimensional weight, so optimal fit is important (if your box is too big, you pay more needlessly). |

Get a triangular priority rate "Poster Tube" from FedEx or UPS. They're free.
Turn it inside-out, and tape it up. A 20" upper fits into one perfectly, with a little padding or some styrofoam peanuts to buffer the upper when the shipper drops it. Looks discrete and doesn't get anyone uptight. |
