Well not so impressive here in Corvallis. It was sticking around 5am and by now its on the cars and grass. Hows everyone else fairing?

Quick Edit: Just got back from a quick run, and its gonna be real interesting tomorrow if the moisture stays around and the temp does get low and it freezes

I never heard "storm" of the century, I heard them say arctic temperatures.  Which is true, it won't hit above freezing all week, with highs in the teen's on mt hood, which means EPIC powder.  I am a snowboarder, and this is definitely the coldest it's been the past 8-10 seasons up there.  I am expecting about 2-3 inches here in Gresham, I already have about an inch as of 9AM.  I'm not sure what you mean by impressive? If you expect 3 feet of snow at your front door then this definitely won't be impressive, but if you paid attention to the forecasts they used words like COLD SNAP, not STORM of the CENTURY.  Nice try troller.

Troller?  Try boosting your post count before you point fingers noob!  And it really depends on what channel you watched buddy, all the forecasts I saw said worst storm in 8-10 years.  I didnt expect much, but with any type of freakout like we saw this weekend by the public, you better give me something worthy.  Weve got standing water here in Corvallis, not at all the doomsday storm they predicted...

Here in Damascus, I'm about 600-650' elv., I have about 4" on the flat with drifts up to 8"+, Spent yesterday putting on the snow tires on all of the vehicles, loading the woodboxes, and have had a fire in the wood stove cranked on since yesterday morning. This morning finishing up on stuffing insulation in the foundation vents and getting them closed upped. Today we were supposed to go and get a tree and visit up in Estacada but it looks like we aren't doing that. Friends in Estacada say they hardly have anything but I am concerned about later tonight when we would be coming home. They got some steep nasty curvy roads that I would have to deal with, down and up. Not worth it. Wife is trying to guilt me into going because this was supposed to be Christmas dinner with these people but it just wouldn't be enjoyable for me, I would be worrying the whole time if I could get my family home safely. Now if it was just me, I would go out and see what kind of trouble I could get myself into, but not with the family tagging along.

Looking forward to watching the chaos in the next couple days as idiot valley natives and cali transplants freak out...

I wonder if I'll see anyone using a hose to wash the snow off their front steps again this year...

Edit:

19 degrees in Salem/Keizer.

I had about 3-4" of snow on the car.  The roads are all iced over.  Driving can be pretty dicey if you're not careful.

I had to take my wife downtown for jury duty.  The roads in Keizer are very bad.  Once you get into Salem, things get a little better and downtown Salem proper is sanded.  Most of the drivers are playing nice.  I only saw one fender bender.

Some folks are chained up.  I'm driving a little front wheel drive econo-slug.  I haven't considered chaining up.  I'm getting around just fine.

About 3 inches of snow and 1F this morning in Bend.  Yea, the snow depth was all hype on the news.

Here in Boardman there is maybe two inches on the roads and vehicles; three to four inches in the yards with drifts up to 16 inches.

Wife has to work (her job is with the fire department as the office manager, and the FD is three blocks from the house); boy has to go to school (second grade, school is four blocks from the house); and my job (Umatilla Chemical Depot) got put on a delay until noon....

So Jr. Lizardman is more of a man than the Army since he has to go to school and the Army is on a delay (I am a civillian Ammunition inspector out there).

oh and it is about 14 degrees here.

My situation is similar to Lizardmans––

6-8 inches of snow in the yard area
13 degrees when I left for work
Roads pretty good until I hit Sandy (I live 15 miles East of Sandy)
Then the roads were hit and miss into work

I was living in the Boring area in '69, I was 9 years old. We got a shit load of snow and the a couple or more inches of freezing rain on top of that. We had the ultimate sledding pasture, man was that fun. But now I am old and still live in the Boring area but I have to drive to Hillsboro everyday for work, so dry roads are fine with me.

My 01 4x4 Tahoe made easy work if this supposed winter system.
Nothing like driving around 300 hp in the snow with complete traction.

I LOVE having an "auto" option with 4x4 when it's this kind of "patchy" snow/ice on the ground cause I can't stand using all 4 wheels when its dry in some areas but you have to leave it in 4x4 due to the patches of snow/ice.

Friday AM

Keizer has 4" on the ground and it's still snowing. Drove "The Imperial Red Headed Scorpio" to work.

The Econoslug plows right through this stuff like it was made for it. Took the long way back home just for fun. Nothing like a little banzai rally racing first thing in the morning!

Lot's of morons/scaredycats in Subaru Outbacks driving at 10mph. Those shitbags should just get off the road. They're a menace to those of us that enjoy driving in crappy weather.

4:30 a.m. - 4" of new around the house for a total of 16" around the house.  Still snowing moderately.  Weekend potential might make this one of the more memorable winters in decades.  Yes I was around in 69 and I lived in Salem at the time.  That was a good dump of snow.  There was a K-Mart out at Mission and I-5 who's roof collapsed under the weight of the build up.  It was a rather interesting year for snow all around the state.
