I went to buy my first AR this weekend. I was buying my lower and the salesmen called me in to get the background check cleared. I was given the OK, but when he hung up the phone he said I probably wouldn't have been given the ok if someone else had called you in, because I've known that lady for 35 years. I laughed thinking he was joking but he didn't. So I asked if he was serious and he said yes that I must have someone that caught her attention but she decided to let it go.

My question is what would have happened had she said no? Would it be a delayed check, a straight no, or something else?

I have been arrested...little over three years ago for DWLS in another state. Could it have been she just wanted to verify what I was arrested for or should I consider doing some research to see if I have something I might not be aware of on my record?

Thanks

More than likely you would have been delayed while they verified something.

I doubt very much the salesman had anything to do with getting you approved.  He's just talking out his ass, trying to make himself look important.

Do you really think someone would risk their job for a person on the other end of the phone that they don't even know?

Thats what I thought too and probably the case, he just seemed so serious it threw off my BS meter.

I have had a transfer delayed and talked them into completing the check for approval while on the phone. The guy drove 1-1/2 hours to pick up a GSG-5P, and I didn't think it was reasonable to make him drive home and back.

That was 2 days ago with the FBI NICS check. I don't know if I could have done it with the OSP though.

It pisses me off when the dealer gets off the phone and says something he thinks is cute, like "Well, they aren't on to you YET" or, "they aren't looking for you yet" or some other lame BS. SHUT THE FUCK UP! It happens almost every time I get a check.

If that was the case, you would have LGS owners/employees getting BJ from everyone just to get passed.

only the person on the other end of the line can give you the go/no go.

btw.  if you did screwup in another state, it WILL show up.

You might be in the "pending file" and she was smart enough to bring it up while on the phone with OSP.

Sounds like BS to me.  That would be par for the course for most gun shop owners.  My reply would have been " What's wrong with the firearm to raise such suspicion"

Just like the earlier post it is a go/no go decision.  I suppose you could get a rookie on the other end of the line and run into an ID problem.  If your name is like Joe Smith or something.

Pure BS man i have done many checks with the state and also know some of the ladies there in person and have asked if they could do that and the answer was a big hell no.
