I'm new to Oregon and to hunting, but want to get busy this summer and fall with getting out and hunting whatever I can. Do you guys have any tips or links to good information that a new guy can use? I suppose for my first season at least I would like to hunt with a guide. I'd like to go after ducks and geese, deer, hogs, rabbits... well, anything really. I have a California hunting license which I imagine doesn't transfer to Oregon, so I probably need to take the hunter safety class and buy the license, tags for deer, and that's about all I know. Thanks for any help. |

#1 where are you at in the state? Metro area? With that, there really aren't a lot of opportunities to hunt hogs, although I thought I heard there was an outbreak of feral hogs down by coos bay? not sure though. If you want to go after anything and everything, I would get the sports pac. It gets you all of the tags and what not hunt pretty much all that has a general season. You missed the tag lottery for antlerless elk and deer and all that stuff, so you are pretty much stuck with general season stuff at this time. IF you have a Bi-Mart near by, go get a membership and pick up a copy of the game bird and big game hand books, you can also down load them from the net if you want (also they have good ammo prices at Bi-Mart and great deals on reloading stuff from time to time). I am sure someone else will be along with more/better info. This will be my 2nd season "hunting" and I just go out into the coast range west of portland and tool around. Hardly ever see anything, but then again I just like being outside with guns. |

OR doesn't require course .... depending on age. Where are you going to be located? I know a few guys that guide for duck and goose during season. For elk, deer, bear, turkey. Ic an give you some ideas around the Eugene area to go. I hunt public lands. I also have some prvate access, but use that for a last ditch effort. BIGFOOT |
