On January 19 a mudslide wiped out about 3000 feet of railroad outside of Oakridge,Or.  Thought you might like to see some pics of it.

Welcome to the boards!!!

Holy crap is right, that's some serious snow!  How do they go about clearing the tracks of that stuff?

The mud and trees they have everything from trackhoes to helicopter.  The snow and ice they use this.

It's one big snow plow. Here are a few more from today.

I can't believe the tree huggers are letting them cut those salvage trees down.  I'm surprised they aren't suing to force the railroad to stick the trees back in the ground!

I've only seen one "stumps don't lie" bumper sticker so far.  We don't even get to keep the logs the forest service does.

Keep up the pics.  Awesome.

If the USFS is keeping the logs, are they going to pay the UP for the damage to their property?

We all have been wondering the same thing,  were the slide started was clear cut some time ago.  I'm sure there will be lawyers involved.

Im sure. I have heard Union Pacific has some damn good lawyers. The good thing about this is that all the trainmen that got furloughed during Christmas after being furloughed for 6 months last year are all back to work. It's having huge repurcussions all through the Portland service unit. Last night I heard the company was buying back people's vacations that have been scheduled through March. All time off requests have also been cancelled until further notice.

Good pics. I will post these up for everyone at Albina.
