So, I haven't seen a Craigslist rant for awhile. I posted an ad, and all I get are the "I am so glad to be seeing your ad for said item. I am unable to view said item in person because I am (insert one item here - deaf, blind, busy, incontinent, stupid......) so I will be sending my shipping agent for making payment as I want to purchase item for my son.........."

I don't know why I bother. At least I learned not to list my phone number a LOOOOOOONG time ago.........

I'm confused, maybe because I've never sold anything on CL before but what are they trying to do scam you some way?

It is almost always an overpayment scam when selling things on CL.

Something like this: "Here is a Check for $2500 for the $250 item you are selling I accidentally put an extra zero on there. Just deposit the check, keep the $500 and send me a (personal check, wester union, etc) for the remainder."

You deposit the money order, cashiers check, whatever they sent you and then when the bank figures out it is bogus, you are on the hook for the full amount.

Yeah, send you a check for more than the amount (bogus check) to get you to cash it and give them the difference. Better than 6AM phone calls from an automated car/bike dealer

If people fall for those scams, its their own damn fault. Thats why I always say "Cash" and "Local Pick Up" whenever I list.......if they can't follow those rules, its probably a scammer.

I'm guessing that sending a live, armed, hand grenade in a box in lieu of the item and 'overpayment' refund would be a little over the top...

I usually just ask them to send the check to a PO Box, then piss on the check, smear it in pig shit. Put it in an envelope in the sun for a few days, then mail it back to them...

I then retain their address and forward them all the coupons I recieve to help them save their money!

Thats not illegal, is it?

Thats one way of doing it It just pisses me off that I can't get someone real to buy, just spammers. Before when I listed my phone number, I kept getting automated car dealership phone calls, until I called em back and said "Listen here you fuckers, my next phone call is to the Better Business Bureau and then the FTC....quit fucking calling!!!!". It worked, but after 2 days of dealing with that kinda BS.
