| I have an ATN ultrasight on my carbine. I like it enough. It seems to work well except in high light conditions. I can't see the reticle very well on a bright and sunny day. Do all of these types of sights have this problem? |
| Try the EOtech, 512 or above. I'v never run out of dot intensity, even in the brightest conditions. The whole unit is much better protected and rugged. Unless I'm looking through a rain drop the lens does not distort when it gets wet. The only problem I've had is with my 501, it lacks the roll cage and it is a little lacking in intensity on bright days, and the battery life is short in comparison to my 551. |

Checked out the 511, 512 and 551, 552. It looks like the only diff between the 511 512 and the 551, 552 is the 50 series can be hooked up to night vision. ?? The only diff between the 511,551 and 512, 552 is the batteries. The former take 2 N type and the latter take AA. I like the idea of being able to use AA as the other type are darn expensive. Do they add too much weight and size to the sight? |

A for-what-its-worth follow-up to my post above: While I love my Eotech 512, I also recently bought a Bushnell Trophy MP and have it mounted on my FAL. So far I am extremely impressed with the range of illumination and craftsmanship of the site... all for $149.90 shipped to my door. I haven't had it turned on all day yet so i don't really have an idea of what battery life is like, but the little lithiums are relatively inexpensive and its no big deal to pack extra. I zeroed it week before last and it was pretty straight-forward. Ran about 100rds of .308 through the rifle and everything held true. Honestly, when compared to the Eotech, the level of quality of this site belies it's low price-point. ![]() ![]()

It's just the angle of the photo. If you notice, the MP crosshair is a bit left: this was a quick off-hand photo out of my office window. I was actually surprised it came out that good. |
