There was a 2-3 page thread in the pistol&rimfire AR section on those not too long ago.... I really like the idea of an ACE folder, looks pretty cool, but it just begs to be SBR'd.....would look kinda funny with a 16" bbl.... I just picked up a Ceiner kit and a couple of BDM mags yesterday from a fellow board member, looking foward to trying it out. It just makes too much sense with ammo prices, kit a few mags and a brick of .22 is still cheaper than 1K of .223. |
| $30 each on the mags.....the kit you can find for anywhere between $120 and $150 ( for the semi-kit) depending on where you look. One thing to think on too, you can always use the kit in the AR you have now, then get a dedicated upper/and or bbl down the road. I think it's Kuehl that has the bbl's that wok with the un-modified ceiner kits. |
got a link? |
I'll find it... |
|
Kuehl's .22 barrels......... Scoll down to " new bbl design changes to see pic... The new design is cool, 'cause all you have to do is pop off the chamber adaptor, no grinding necessary...This is on my wish list......someday...hell it took 3 years to buy the damn .22 kit |

I just sent money a order for one of there .22 pistols yesterday! They said it would take 2 weeks to send out the barrel to cut it down to 4" instead of the standerd 6"(to keep bulk pack ammo sub sonic) but they would charge me the same because I dont want the fake can.......Real nice lady on the phone... Lets see what shows up!!!!!Oh yea, they sell extra bdm mags for $25..... |
Damn man, I finally looked and saw what you have been sweating about!! CONGRATS!!! that is sick and will be a hell of a time at the range! SBR! SBR! SBR! |

Damn man, I finally looked and saw what you have been sweating about!! CONGRATS!!! that is sick and will be a hell of a time at the range! SBR! SBR! SBR! Yea!!! I'm gonna shoot the piss out of it this summer as a pistol, and file the SBR paper work in the fall! I'm trying to pick an optic, trying to decide between a clone point(kinda big for a pistol, but great for a SBR), and a ultradot(great for a pistol, but sucks for a SBR}.............

I had trouble with fitting my Spikes Tactical lower while trying to fix it up for a PCC, the .45 grease gun mags are too fat to fit into the mag well...I didn't have this problem with my CMMG or Mega lowers, so I changed it out for the Mega lower with my .223 upper. http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/6385/dsc03457it8.jpg http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/448/dsc03458pg3.jpg http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/7456/dsc03459dw1.jpg |

I just ordered one yesterday. They sold me the lower they were using in their ads. They are supposed to be getting more in stock, but they're not in yet and I wanted to get started with my new build. I'm putting together a .22 AR machine pistol. Ciener kit, DIAS, 3-4" barrel and a bunch of Black Dog 30 round mags. Should be done & fun in time for the Eagle Cap Shoot. |
What are you going to do for the barrel. Personally, Im think I will to chop a 1/12 down to that length. Probibly best choice if you can find a cheapo barrel. |
|
BurntPocketHole I've got a leftover new 16" from a Stag upper that I may have cut down to around 3.5" and I don't have any problem with a 1/9 twist. My current .22 4.5" is a 1/9 I think, and it shoots well. I also have a few 1/12 on some old, unused Colt A1 uppers I bought a while back, but I hate the thought of chopping one of those off. Maybe I can find a used barrel on Gunbroker. |
Does your 4.5" keep most stuff (bulk ammo) sub? Im debating actual length I want - Im thinking 3-4". my can can will add 6". My main goal is for nearly everything to run sub-sonic, giving me the ability to shoot the cheapest, cheap ammo available. |
|
As far as the barrel keeping the ammo subsonic, I think somewhere below 6" should be safe, however I can't say for sure. I've ordered a chrono which should be here in a week or so. I plan on checking all the popular, available .22 brands and may report my results here. The interest in .22 AR's with the Ciener type kits is just beginning to grow. I think it's a combination of the cheaper 30 round mags, and the higher prices of .223 in the past year. As you know, lots of fun, cheap. |
