I have an Army buddy (Gulf War version 1.1.0 1st Armor Div) possibly moving here from Reno NV due to a job offer.  She has a couple of Horses and is looking at buying a house in either Vancouver or the PDX metro area.  She will need info on Horse boarding facilities.  She will work from home and travel via Aeroplane often, so getting to the PDX airport is fairly important.

She is going to visit the area on the weekend of 03/10 - 03/11.

Any ideas?

Yes, she is single.

I havn't seen her in approx 13 years.  It will be good to see her again.  She is like a sister to me and I owe her alot for being there for me in some hard times.

What say you Oregon HTF?

Mark.

I'm thinking being out eastside would be the best option.  Good likelihood of horse rooms out there and good shot to the airport.

Of course, CH is the man to know on that bit.

Funny, my wife is just in the process of selling her horse and exiting the equestrian game.

Board for a couple of horses isn't cheap around here. Maybe $350 to $500+ a month per horse. Most places are going full-service.

For proximity to PDX (we're in West Linn), there are places in Oregon City, Wilsonville, and further up I-205 across in Estacada, but I don't know what things are like up near Vancouver.

Wish her luck.

Cheers!

My in-laws live just south of Yacult WA...North of Battleground WA. Great place for what you have described. Something to consider.

Lots of places to board horses in Canby and Wilsonville.

There also are places in unincorporated Washington County between Highway 99W and Beaverton/Hillsboro.  Even Tualatin has places to board horses - one (Cindy's House of Horses) is about a block from my house.  Rates are $350/stall/month.

Other places near here include sites near the Stafford Triangle, East of Tualatin High School (on the East side of I-5).  When I looked at some of these (5 years ago), about $300k would buy a 3 bedroom house, with a large barn (I think 4 stalls minimum?), and a few acres.  Bet that property's probably in excess of $400k today.  MLS ID#: 6040083 is $580k, sits on 2 acres, and was originally built in 1958.

Other places exist near Douglas Ridge.  However, by living out there she might not be closer to PDX, since the roads aren't straight, nor wide.

There is a boarding place about a half mile up the road from me ( Troutdale) but then the horses would be about a half mile from ME. Can't imagine they like me shooting. HA ,  I have 0 info on it but could check it out if you like.

Thanks for all the input ya'll.

She did like Oregon and Washington and if all goes well with the job offer she will be moving here.  She liked the Washougal/Camas area best. (Fuckin Oregon Taxes)

Anyway, it was good to see her again.  We did lunch and dinner in Downtown PDX with her Sister the doctor, Brother in law the professor of Chemistry at a University in Nevada and Father the retired Electrical engineer...  All of whom were very nice people and didn't even freak out when I mentioned Shooting stuff.  I figured they would.

Have her look on www.zillow.com  Good place to look for houses before she gets up here. Helps to narrow down what is out there, so she can make the most effective use of her time.

Well you have to bring her out to see the club. And Sherwood is nicer than Portland.
