Service Rifle Match at Powder River Sportsmans Club, Baker City. Course: Two sighter shots, followed by 20 for-record at 200 yards, firing from the standing position with no support. I won the service class with a Model 1 Dissipator with A2 sights on a Superior lower shooting XM193. I scored the 2nd relay so I didn't see all the other rifles shot in the service class, but there were at least 2 Garands, 1 M1A, and 1 other AR15. We were shooting in 10mph crosswinds gusting to 25, so scores were dented by wind. I really thought a 30 caliber would take the day because of the wind, but I guess they can also be pretty heavy for 22 paced shots offhand. I met some great guys, and look forward to some of the other shoots there. I'm new to the club. They have a pistol range and the rifle range has two sheltered bench areas and target berms at 100, 200, 300, 500, 600, and 1000 yards. Anyway, good weekend! Never underestimate the 5.56!! |
