I can't believe I found this video.
Damn I wish this was out in the public eye more when it comes to firearms.  Watch the vid, and you see what I mean.  What a breath of fresh air, and it even comes out of California.

Here is the link to the video on Youtube

Same video: www.2ampd.net/Articles/Pyle/truth.htm

The link is to a 10 minute long video clip.  The speaker is a (now retired) San Jose Police Officer, who is pretty straightforward on the topic.

According to the notes on the website, this video was made in 1989, during the ramp-up to the California "Assault Weapon" ban.  Too bad Perata, Roberti, and Roos (CA State Legislators) went into the process with closed minds from the word "go"...

Well, you have to understand the mindset of the anti's.  It doesn't really matter if a gun ban makes sense, or even if the arguments are intelectually honest.  All they need to know is that some type of gun is getting banned.  Doesn't matter if that gun is "responsible" for some crime.  To them, any gun ban is a good gun ban.

I was talking to this girl the otehr day and she remarked that guns scare her becasue she knew someone who had been shot.  I mentioned somethign about rifles and she said she doesn't even know the difference between rifles, pistols, and shotguns.  Yet I'm sure she would support a gun ban even though she has no clue about the subject except that she doesn't like guns.  That really is enough justification, aparently.

Oh, I understand where they're coming from.  Unfortunately, the won't stay there or go back - they keep running away from the asylum!
