| can you be mandated to work a 24 hr peroid after you have work a 16hr peroid? have worked a 40hr week with 8hrs of over time. |

I think the simple answer is no. As mentioned, OSHA would probably have something to say about that, particularly if your work involves machinery or anything that could affect yours, or other's health. Now, the more pragmatic answer is that slave labor is alive and well in the US. In 99.999% of jobs both the employer and the employee have the right to terminate the job for any or no reason with zero notice. So in practical terms, if you want to keep the job just say "Yasum massa!" and do what you are told. If I were you, I would do what they ask, but start looking for a more reasonable employer. |
I don't know what Oregon overtime pay laws are, I think it is even optional toi even pay overtime, or that is what I was told. As far as OSHA or whatever, My dad has worked as much as 60 hours straight for a major utility company. I've worked over 100 hours straight, but for a much less reputable outfit. IMO you damn well better be getting at a minumum time & a half! When my dad worked 60 hours he was getting TRIPLE TIME! |
