A pictoral review (yes Mark, good line) of fishing for chipmunks.

What is needed:
Beer (original Coors Yanker)
A very hot day on the Dechutes river w/no luck for real fish
Fishing pole(s) (7' IM7 4-8wt, but the kid's superman fishin pole worked too)
Bag of peanuts
Lots of hungry squirells and chipmunks

Don't knock it till you try it!  These little bastards can put up a pretty good tussle depending on how tight your drag is set.  You can also "target" the larger ones by casting in front of them.  Most of the fatter, scrappier squirells were pretty quick to run off the smaller ones ad they are not too quick to catch on about actually getting the nut, though some are very persistant and will eventually chew on it enough to get one or both nuts out.  You never actually "catch" one, all are LDR (long distance release) though some will fight you all the way in and with a good death grip on the bait will actually let you pick them up off of the ground.

The targeted species

Good thing.  You can only keep them if they have a scar where their tail used to be (posterior tail clipped)

That's funny. Just today I was telling my backhoe operator he was nuttier than squirrel shit then this thread pops up.

No, no "wild" chips were clipped and released to be "hatchery" either
