I'm guessing there may be a few fireworks....  or maybe not.

Here's the complete message:

OFF ALERT 5/27/06

OFF at OSU

Tuesday, May 30th, Oregon Firearms Federation Director, Kevin Starrett,
will be speaking at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.

Also speaking will be Jim Jacobe, a certified firearms instructor from
Salem. <http://jimjacobe.com/>

At 5pm at the Memorial Union, Starrett will be discussing concealed
carry on campus, and the Oregon University System's illegal "no
concealed carry" policy.

Jacobe will be discussing firearms safety. The event is free and open
to the public and there will be a question and answer period.

If you are in the area, come out and join the discussion. Copies of
"Understanding Oregon's Gun Laws" will be available with proceeds going
to the student sponsors of the event.

Oregon Firearms Federation wishes you a happy and safe Memorial Day.
Our thoughts are with all those who have served our nation and with
their families who have sacrificed  so much for liberty.

Likely some professor and his/her followers. Now If they can get to The Uof O that would be something to watch!

Sounds like an interesting event. Bit of a drive for me though.  And man oh man what a cluster fuck it would be if they gave that lecture at UofO.

I say go.  And CCW too.  They can't do a damn thing about it.  I would but I plan on transferring to OSU...

But if it's concealed who's gonna know?  I'm a student at OSU now.

Yup, that was mostly pointed towards Promt's post above mine.  Nothing to worry about.

I'll second that, Jim Jacobe is a gret guy.  Even if already have a CHL you can't go wrong listening to one of his legal/use of force lectures on his Wed? night classes.

You guys who were there, would you mind telling us a little about it all.

The talks were somewhat short and consice.  Kevin Starett from OFF talked about laws and how the university system's rules are illegal and can't be enforced in a court.  Also went on with some other cases OFF has taken to court.  He also touched on politcal action, how when bills come up simly contacting your representative can have a huge effect on their outlook.

After Kevin, Jim Jacobe took over and did a short presentation on gun handling safety.  Instead of the NRA's 4 rules, Jim teaches 5 habits, since rules are "meant to be broken."  He touched briefly on use of force then answered a couple questions.

Tim basically summed it up.

Tim - I was sitting over behind Kevin.  Are you a student here at OSU?  I didn’t see this here until after the presentation, I would always like to meet fellow ARFCOM'ers.
