I'd like to introduce myself and hope to meet some of guys some day at a local shoot. I'm a member of a local gun club in the rural Portland area, if anybody out there is ever interested and up for a shoot there also. It's a small club w/o range officers, never crowded and a relaxed atmosphere. It's not much but I call it home and like it alot.

Where and when is the next PR match?

I don't see a problem with a ARFCOM shoot. Unfortunately, FA isn't allowed! I don't own any Class 3 firearms, maybe someday I'll sell the farm and buy one.

IM sent on locale.

PR matches are second Saturday of each month. Next one is Dec. 10th. This one is one of the "specials" in that it starts at 4pm. It's the night match. Uber (yes uber) cool.

If not December, come out January. It is a regular match. Feb is a sniper match so you can try out your long range skills.

FYI, these matches are very low key. The only 2 things we really stress is saftly and fun. Where you finish in the match is not really a big deal. I finished 13th in my first match and havent done better since. But i have fun EVERY single time.

If you're not sure about it, a first, you can come out and watch. Although most people have regretted that after the first stage. You typically hear "Damn, I really should have brought my rifle!"

So, come check out the match, but bring your rifle and some ammo… just in case.

Yeah, the Dec. match would be a no-go as far as participating for me. However, I'm going to try and make time to meet some of the folks here and check out the festivities.

As far as AR's go, do you guys use carbines in these matches? If not, then I guess I better get a different upper, since all I own are carbine-type AR's.

Glad to hear safety is a big issue!

I've never been to TCGC and mingled with folks on the higher end of the food chain. I'm a member of a club that is a little less high society but it's only 5 mins. away from home.

Do they allow rednecks who work for a living?

Here's a pic of the wife and I!

Well, carbine ARs. Yes they're used. What I've seen people run in a regular match:
- AK-47 variant
- AR-15 20"-14.5" in carbine and full A2/A3 form.
- FAL
- Beretta Storm 9mm
- MP5/HK94 9mm
- Steyr Aug
- Both iron sights or optics.

Basically anything that has a big mag you can shoot well will work. These are mostly "run 'n gun" type matches. Shoot 5-6 targets, MOVE, shoot 5-6 targets, MOVE, etc.

And as far as rednecks go...well, they DO allow Cape Hunter to shoot, so you should be okay. Seriously, we have Intel employees, over-degreed electrical engineers, an auto parts counter jockey, etc. etc. Anybody's typically allowed to play as long as you pay your entrance fee (only if competing) and are safe. You also don't have to be a member of TCGC to participate.

As an example, here's Unka-Boo running a stage from the last match. Notice he's using a Post-Ban un-flashhider'd 20" A2 iron sighted. No comments about his pistol skills though. video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6046800661939380955&q=practical+rifle

You definitely need to check out the PR shoot; everybody should…

I’ve only shot it twice now and have had a great time both times. It seems to be run buy good folks and everybody is very conscientious about safety.

As for rifles, I used my M4gery with Wolf ammo the first time out and didn’t fare so well. I blame it on the spray paint on my front sight, but in all reality it was probably just me. The second time I shot I used my 20-inch A2 Bushmaster and did quite a bit better.

Just bring what you got and have a good time.
