I need somebody to take off my barrel who wont charge me an arm and leg, will need it put back on a few weeks later too.   I am going to have it cut down and threaded but the was informed that it would get expensive with the removal/reinstall.   I'm in Oregon City but would be happy to bring it to anybody with the tools and knowhow to help me out.   I can give a tapco spring kit or furniture to anybody who'll gimme a hand.... any takers??

I have the tools. I'll let you borrow them as long as I can get them back fast when I need to do something myself.  Do you have a solid vise to put the barrel vise in? That I can't loan.  hen

When do you need them?  I'm driving by Oregon City tomorrow on the way to Keith's.

That would be great, I'll IM a phone number.   Also do you know offhand are they reverse threads?

Mr45Auto:

Not to presume, but have you checked for information here?

There are several FALoholics around PDX, and Oregon in general.  Any questions you have can be answered on the Files pretty quickly, e.g., only the FH threads on FAL's are left hand, per Reference: thread pitch guide.

Happy FAL-ling!

There is a guy up on the hill in Oregon City that is known to be Mr FAL with the Practical Rifle  group.   He recrowned my barrell and refinished my FAL.  I believe he operates a company called Z-Cote in Clackamas or Oregon City.

He should be at the next match or you could contact [email protected] and ask him for  the mailing list address. You can them post a general question of who has FAL tool and/or can do FAL work.  I'm use several people can help you in OR City.  I would give you the Practical Rifle email address, but I'm away from home this week.

I think you're referring to Tom?   He's been under the weather last I checked.   I have his number someplace, I should probably check on him anyhow.   He's a great guy, disabled vet if it's the same guy you're talking about.

I think last_mile2002 is referring to Bobby K. who is from South Africa and used
to carry a FAL when in the SA military.  In fact, at the last match he was shooting a
FAL Para complete with a DSA folding stock.  Unfortunately, I don't have his email address
but he will probably be at the PR match this weekend.
