I'v got a 45-70 that I need some work done to. Mainly Cutting a dovetail in the barrel for an extended magazine tube and cutting the tube to length also filling the old dovetail. I don't know if anyone recommend anyone in the N.Ga area, but i figured its worth a shot before I start looking at places to send it off to.

I've had a rifle threaded by this guy out of state. Very reasonable.

That work is not too difficult.  It is time consuming.  You might want to try it yourself.   I cut the barrel on my Guide Gun to remove the ports and added an extended tube that required a new dovetail.

I'm actually looking to do this with mine, I know a guy nearby I'm just not sure how busy he is. I have another friend with one who might be doing the same thing if we can get them done together it may help push things along. I'll give him a ring and see what's up.

I did 2 similar jobs myself.   Not that difficult, any good gunsmith should be able to do the work.

My favorite levergun 'smith is Ben Forkin, but he's in Montana.  He rebarrelled a buggered up Win94 for me.  He also rebarrelled one of my Colt SAA'd and tuned up the pair of them.

I would do it myself, but I have terrible luck. If it can go wrong, it will go wrong
