I got the Vortex Ranger 1500 and am impressed with it. The farthest I've tried to use it is 840 yards, but it worked like a charm. I'll take it to 1350 in another week, but from what I've heard from others I expect it to do fine.

| What type of objects are y'all ranging way out there on? I don't remember the brand I bought but it's a 1000 yrd range. The farthest I've ranged a deer is about 285 yds. It won't range them farther out. On a reflective surface like a road sign it'll range out to 1000, immediately showing the range. I've put a roll of reflective tape in my shooting bag to put on targets. It works. |

It doesn't have the ARC technology which calculates the adjusted range for angle, but it's pretty accurate and consistent. It also has a couple different modes from targets, to " in foliage" . |

I remember one was an 8" circle at 478 yards and I had no trouble picking it up. Another 4" wide stop sign target was at 292 and I easily picked that up as well. It read a 2" wide ruler at 288 yards. I also was able to range a 5"x9" plate at 714. To hit these small targets I was bracing the unit against my Nightforce spotter. Mark |

When ranging something large like my pickup, I've got well past 1,000yds with the Bushnell Elite 1500. For steel targets ranging from 10"x17" up to IPSC silhouettes, I've gone out to 1,000yds.
Lighting will have a lot to do with it. I can range further and easier on an overcast day than on a sunny day. |

For under $500, you can't do better than Bushnell Elite 1 Mile ARC Laser Rangefinder 7x
unless size is a factor. If'n your humpin' equal to or moar than 338LM and you're good enough, yoozgotz to spend moar. The Lord starts slappin' my boolits around after 600yds. Hell, He knows I'm an old man... sshhh.

But it will range on a tiny reflective surface no larger than a dollar bill to1000 yards. I've ranged with it at night through night vision and it does indeed do much better when it's dark, but of course it's very awkward. |
