Thinking of taking a weekend trip and looking at Darien.  Anybody been there or have any opinions of the area?

Been a while since I've been there but Pelican's Point used to have a seafood buffet to die for.

They had lobster on it last time we were there.

I'm from Brunswick. When I go to Darien to eat I prefer Skippers.  Like their shrimp & sweet potato soufflé.

When I lived in Brunswick I would go to Darien to gather oysters. Great oyster beds there.

There's a cool little bar next to skippers.  Skippers is a great place to eat.  Mud Cat Charlie's is across the river and is also a great place to eat.  Pelican Point has an awesome buffet but you need to go on a Friday night or on the weekend so the food is fresh.

I use to visit Pine Harbor a lot. Pelican Point and the Buccaneer were the places to go then.

Ft King George is interesting even though the recreated fort is in the wrong place!

Skippers is my favorite place to eat.   Go across the bridge south toward Brunswick and have a few drinks at Mudcat Charlies on the dock at the Two Way Fish Camp.
Skippers...order the flounder and thank me later.

Darien is a neat little town but I can't imagine spending more than an afternoon there unless I owned a boat, some property, or something to keep me entertained.

Speaking of entertainment I do believe there is a boobie joint not far from there but again, probably not one of the finer establishments.

A buddy of mine stopped there once.

Full nude and the dancer had a little string dangling.

He threw twenty bucks on the stage and told her to take the week off as he left.

The café closed down some time ago, so unless a new strip club was opened, no boobies.

I believe you are correct.  I think it was Cafe Risque.

Well there's always the Red Carpet Lounge in Brunswick . . .
