They shut the range down today - guessing a suicide at the range..

On January 30, 2016 at approximately 9:30am there was a single-shooter involved shooting at our Atlanta Stoddard's Range and Guns location. The incident was isolated and no members of the Stoddard's staff were involved.
This is a terrible tragedy. The Stoddard's team is deeply saddened by this event. As a result of this incident, we have suspended operations at the Atlanta range so that Atlanta Police may complete their investigation. We are cooperating fully with the Atlanta police.

I hate that this happened to them. I enjoy Stoddards extremely nice store decent inventory and knowledgeable staff. I will say that the prices are high but consider the location.

I was looking at ranges for a couple co-workers that wanted to rent a few guns, try before they buy.  Imagine my surprise when one of the ranges stated on their website they wouldn't rent to single shooters.  Thought about it some and it makes a bit of sense, unfortunately.  Feel terrible for staff and other shooters that have to witness such a thing.

At A/O, you have to watch their safety video, and sign up (free) to be a range member.  After that, you still can't rent a gun. Your first use of the range, you MUST bring a gun from home.  After your first use, you're okay to rent a gun.  It's really sad that places like this have to even put such rules into play.

I was in there today. I didn't even know the place existed until this morning. It was a nice range, but indoor public ranges always make me nervous.  There were several people next to me who had rented guns and we're shooting for the first time with no instruction.  This seems like common practice at indoor ranges. They had range officers who we're doing a good job, but honestly it's still an unsafe situation.

I bought a gun, and while I was checking out a guy came in and they gave him  a free membership because "he was here last week".  I assumed something happened, but I didn't ask.
