So long story short I found a boat with two outboards for sale. They were stolen along with a different boat in 2009. The Outboards are worth 10K each and the boat 10K. Just by dumb luck googling the serial number it hit on a stolen registy. The boats and motor had a reward listing of up to $7500.

I call the reward flyer investigator this morning and he said he was going to look into it. Later today, another insurance investigator called me to get more details on the seller/location. Is it reasonable for me to expect a partial reward for connecting the dots?

How would you approach it?

This isn't someones engagement ring. These are paid investigators who get a percentage and advertise rewards because its good for business. I'm sure the owner is long ago been paid and won't want these back.
