Looking for an ATV for a 7-8 year old. I see a lot of the imports around and curious how reliable they are? Are the low end polaris etc also rebranded chinese stuff? Any wisdom? This is just for farting around the back yard but I'd like to get them something with a gas engine.

Buy once, cry once.

The chicom crap is just that. Those Chinese sons-a-bitches don't know the meaning of locktite and unless you essentially disassemble the entire bike and rebuild it and use locktite, the bolts, screws and nuts will start to fall off and shit will break.

I bought Polaris and never looked back. Kid has just about outgrown his now and the resale is pretty good on them.

Don't support the chicoms.

I bought my son one of those Chinese POS. I worked on it more than he rode it. Buy a name brand one.

I bought one off craigslist for 75 bucks.  Got it running but it will run for a day or 2 then start assing up.  I have never found anything I can't fix.....till now.

I'm with ya. I would take the carb apart and put it back together and it would run until he was tired of riding. Shut it down and it wouldn't start back up. Take the carb apart and put it back together and it'd fire right back up. Never could find anything wrong it.

I put a new carb on it.  Same crap.  I have never seen anything Mechanical that I just threw my arms up and said F it, I'm done.  That is until I met chicom atv's.

Don't buy Chinese 4 wheelers or dirt bikes. Don't buy Kids size Polaris 4 wheelers as they are made in Taiwan for Polaris, junk. Buy a used Honda, Kaw, Yamaha, 4 wheeler and you will be good.

Bought my son a new 90CC Arctic Cat 3-4 years ago.

It's been well used and still holding up well.

I also purchased a $400.00 chinese POS ATV and I ended it giving it away. The POS ate batteries like a fat kid eats M&M's and shit would fall off at random times when it actually ran.

I was alway a Honda ATV fan but I just could work with the local Honda shop so I purchase the Arctic Cat based on the dealer's reputation. I have purchased several more new Cat's since then.

My 9 yo son has been riding a Polaris predator 90 two stroke for a little over two years now.  I bought it used for a few hundred bucks an couldn't be happier with it. Its almost time for him to step up to something bigger though.
