You mean huntin doves? I'm working. I've never hunted doves, I've hunted grouse up in PA though. Learned young there is no need to carry more than 1/2 a box of shells when looking for grouse. How many rnds you need for doves? Aw man, I was hoping you were humpin' some for me.
Going tomorrow, Adairsville. Dad's 16ga Sears & Roebuck Ted Williams pump. |

We had a good lunch and some great fellowship in the pole barn before the shoot but it was mostly downhill from there,
We got in the field around 2:00 right after a little rain so the humidity was about 98%. The birds were flying but less than a 1/3 of the birds I saw the previous Saturday. A few shooters limited out but my shooting was way off today. I was 3 short of my limit and my 9 y/o son managed to down a couple of birds with 410 single shot. td |

We even had a 20 min shoot at 1215. In think I shot up a box of shells by 3. And two more till 7. If TD don't do a HTF shoot I can probably get this guy let us in. |

The weather was dicey all week and I think that helped scattered the birds. Hawks circled the field several times during the day and that certainty didn't improve the situation. I have a neighbor about 2 miles down the road with a field. I'm pretty sure he baits them in because he usually has a lot of birds in a trashy field with a few stunted sunflowers choked with grass. I noticed him disking everything under when I passed him farm yesterday at 11:00am. I supposed he was turning the dirt to hide the bait but that's only a guess. I could ask the DNR to check his field but that's not my style. td |
| We had a great shoot. We have been hunting the same place for about 20 years. It sure was hot but the birds were flying early with the storms coming in. It only rained a little but the birds were trying to feed all afternoon. Let’s just say we shot a lot of birds. A lot of shooting and a lot of birds. The heat and humidity was brutal. I hope everybody had a safe and a fun dove hunt. |

Best to all. Next time, stay kewl. |

Hey TD its funny u say thats not u on calling the GW. I had a buddy hunting in troup county on the sheriff's field. And someone called in a baited field tip on him!! Lol Many a politician has shoot over a baited field. I may be way off base concerning my neighbors field but he almost always has an inordinate number of birds considering the poor quality of the field he prepares. Be that as it may I would never express my concerns to the DNR. td |

AAR for Barnesville: Best opening day I've seen in several years! Hopefully, they'll still be flying later in the season as I am otherwise committed for the next couple of weeks.
Started with lunch and fellowship and saw some old friends and made a couple of new ones. Had an interesting experience. An OC shows up with a Glock in a Blackhwak holster (noticed a FOP badge and jump wings on his boonie hat), so I asked him what model he was carrying. His response "it's a Gen 4." I know, I replied. Is it a 22 or 17? His response " I don't know what you are talking about. It's a 9mm (pulls it out and hands it to me). Be careful, it's loaded." I almost told him it wouldn't do much good if it weren't, but just looked at it, said "nice gun," and handed it back. |
