All I want when I wake up in the morning is to take a hot shower.  Our water heater started leaking sometime last night and it extinguished the burner (I guess that's a lucky thing).  Because of the home warranty company, we wont be able to get it replaced until, hopefully, this Friday.

Home warranty stuck!  Your probably gonna pay the price of the unit anyway.

I would be surprised if they replace it. If they do it will be the absolute cheapest, most inefficient, wouldn't even be used by a slum lord, replacement possible

The guy who came out said they use the same kind of water heaters that I've already got and we'll end up probably saving $300 to $400 using the home warranty verses just hiring a plumber straight up.

Are you capable of changing it yourself?  If so do it. It'll probably be cheaper.

I actually had an entire AC unit replaced 2 summers ago with a home warranty. Saved me a bunch of money, I think I ended up coming out of pocket under $100.

Good news!  We are only having to pay $300 out-of-pocket to everything brought up to code (right now the existing water heater is on a pedestal and it needs to be placed on the floor and everything else needs plumbed down onto it).  So  by tomorrow evening, I'll be taking showers at home again!
