My Parents subjected me to 12 years of Winter isolation and Snow where 10''-3Ft (at a time) of snow were common.

I DO NOT MISS IT!!!!!!

ETA: I do reminisce of taking my jeans off and standing them in the corner to thaw into a pile every now & then

I think it's awesome, but my wife is from Maine, and says she has seen all the snow she needs to for the rest of her life.   The kids are hoping for snow, as the 2.5 weeks they have been off school has not been sufficient.

You do not want anything like this to happen down here.

I have four chains for the Yukon XL 2500 4x4, and it has 1600# of stuff to hold the tires on the ground.  Would be amusing to watch the locals slide.  When I was younger, I would chain up, load the bed of the pick up, and pull people out for quick cash.  Had a cool waterbed-like thing that would fill with water for traction.  That and rear chains were all I needed.

Lots of fun for a Florida boy.

This Watkinsville sunrise was a few years ago, about 6 inches of snow glazed over with about 2 inches of ice.

Meh, you're not right in the head. As I type this, it's spitting snow in my AO.This area, (facilities and population,) cannot handle this shit so no I don't want to see it. I too have seen way too much of this shit when I was younger, (used to live out west,) and while it was 'fun' back then it's not now. Thing is, out there it pretty much had to be a blizzard with snow measured in feet before there was talk of cancellations.

Fuck.that.shit!

More truth: It's winter, and winter is supposed to be cold with snow, ice and wind - deal with it.

Actually there is another side to the problem.

I just spent 8 hours trying to get our fleet of buses to run. We got about 2/3 of them running today. Unlike up north we are not setup to plug buses in to keep the blocks warm and the batteries charged. A cold blast like this plays havoc with diesel bus's that have been sitting idle for 2 weeks.

I had about a dozen buses that flat would not run.

I also heard they were having trouble getting the schools warm, at least in Paulding County. My work partner's wife is a teacher for Paulding and she was sent home early Friday because the school wouldn't get warm. Don't know if its still a problem now though.

You may get your wish, this winter weather roller coaster is predicted to last all season.
I blame Owl Gore for sucking all of the warming out of the globe...

I would also like to see a real snow storm down here, but large numbers

I spent a year in Korea -- 89-90 -- winter was pretty rough, although I rode my mountain bike every single day, in ice, snow, and the heat of summer.

And then there's Minnesota.  My introduction to Minnesota was Minneapolis at Christmas.  Twenty below the first night.  Six pack of beer EXPLODED in the back seat.  Tried to start the car and it wouldn't even click.  Having grown up near Corpus Christi, I didn't think it got that cold anywhere in the United States.  It was a real shock.  At least they know how to keep the roads open.

It's been maybe three years ago, but I saw a snow plow working Interstate TEN in Arizona!

My picture isn't as picturesque as yours but from the same ice over snow in Watkinsville in 2011.  What a mess.

I'd love to see the snow like that again this year.  We never lost power and we had plenty of groceries + a fully stocked liqueur cabinet.  I didn't leave the house for like 4 days.
These geese didn't fly far enough south.
