I've never looked into buying a suppressor before now. My wife bought me a Ruger 22/45 LITE and I'm thinking about adding one to it.
What do I need to do to get started with the legal process? I am a CCW permit carrier. Any recommendations on a good quality brand/model? Cost isn't a real big concern. What is the average time to get one from day 1 to firing range? I tried searching for these answers but I was overloaded with info and didn't know what was right and what was wrong. Also, I'm in Houston County (Warner Robins) if it makes a difference. Thanks for the help guys! |
| From when you buy one and submit papers, it's a 8-9 month wait right now for the suppressor form & stamp to get back to you. Best option is to use a revocable living trust to purchase it (either Quicken Willmaker, or someone here can recommend a lawyer to do it). I'm sure others will chime in with more details and the best place/price/suppressor for your area. You'll also need a threaded barrel, or to get your current barrel threaded. |

I have a stainless steel Sparrow I bought from IKH when he was at 400 Jewelry & Pawn. I use it on a Ruger 22/45 and have been very happy with it. Ive got one in purgatory right now. Hoping it clears in January sometime. I have a 22Sparrow in purgatory now too. Hope to get it within the next month. Hoping. Pending in March.

Good place to check on wait times and help out by entering your info. Some one from the Warner Robins area who has gone through the process would be able to answer about LEO sign off if you go that route. (I prefer that route myself. Thankfully we have a good one in my AO.) As for what to get for a .22 suppressor: Silencerco Sparrow. Drool worthy pics: S&W M&P 22
10/22 with Marauder stock
Ruger MK III 22/45
I really should take some pictures of my 22/45 Lite. I haven't checked on wait times lately because I pretty much have what I want at this point, but 8-9 months now? Eeeew! I was around 4 months for my sparrow 2 years ago and around 6 months last year for my YHM Phantom.(Total wait time for ordering the Phantom to taking home was around 9 months though.) |

| Find a local SOT who also has a range, that way you can at least play with it during the 10 month wait. SSparrow is the way to go and be careful, suppressors grow extra hosts and then you'll start shopping for others. If I were you I'd go ahead and seriously evaluate your potential future suppressor wants and go ahead and buy them all together, otherwise you will wait a year, shoot your sparrow and then dread the long wait for the next one that I guarantee you will want. |

Magazine disconnect. Basically put the mkIII and 22/45 to mkII and mkI specs. Makes the gun operate smoother and more reliable. I havent got it yet but thats what it supposed to do. |

Made mine 1000% better. It had all kinds of issues. This with a new extractor fixed everything. |

If you're going for maximum quiet the AAC element 2 is the quietest that you are going to get on a handgun.
If you want something that is pretty quiet and hella easy to take apart the sparrow is the way to go. Find a local dealer. Start paperwork. Wait. Rejoice. |

As has been stated, you cannot go wrong with the Element or Sparrow.
Try to get to a range and hear both side by side. If that can't happen in a timely manner, go to a dealer near you (did you already state what part of town you were in?) to compare side by side. Get the paperwork started asap after making a decision. That part takes long enough, so the sooner you get started the quicker you'll have it. Although, due to the nature of the process you want to make sure you buy the 'right' one for you. |
