I am taking the family on Saturday. I will be taking a shitload of pictures. Remember, this year you have to have badges to get inside any hotel or official venue! If you don't, you're stuck on the street. What? I can't sit at the bar and people watch w/out buying a badge? |

They have a patio area now, but you'll probably be waiting a long time for a table. |

I'll be packing tonight, need to pick up more booze for a room party, not sure what time I'll get down there tomorrow, staying in the Hilton, our room party will be in the Hyatt. I'll typically found near John Ringo or his wife (she's had negative experiences with some of his fans who think because HE has an interest in BDSM that she does too, so sticks with people she knows will stand up for her). |

We do. |
| And the APD spokesman who is obviously new in town wants us to call 911 if we see something strange at Dragon Con. The strangest thing I ever saw there was a clean cut man in a business suit. He was straight, sober and acting normally. Strange, indeed. I should have called 911. |

[In a shooting range, confronted with numerous menacing-looking targets, Edwards shoots a cardboard little girl] Zed: May I ask why you felt little Tiffany deserved to die? James Edwards: Well, she was the only one that actually seemed dangerous at the time, sir. Zed: How'd you come to that conclusion? James Edwards: Well, first I was gonna pop this guy hanging from the street light, and I realized, y'know, he's just working out. I mean, how would I feel if somebody come runnin' in the gym and bust me in my ass while I'm on the treadmill? Then I saw this snarling beast guy, and I noticed he had a tissue in his hand, and I'm realizing, y'know, he's not snarling, he's sneezing. Y'know, ain't no real threat there. Then I saw little Tiffany. I'm thinking, y'know, eight-year-old white girl, middle of the ghetto, bunch of monsters, this time of night with quantum physics books? She about to start some shit, Zed. She's about eight years old, those books are WAY too advanced for her. If you ask me, I'd say she's up to something. And to be honest, I'd appreciate it if you eased up off my back about it. [pause] James Edwards: Or do I owe her an apology? [pause] James Edwards: That's a good shot though... |

I am pretty sure that this will be our last Saturday trip to Dragon Con. The crowds have become unmanageable on Saturday. You can't get into anything worth seeing without a couple of hours in line. Too much money to stand in line all day. Been trending that way for a long time sadly. One of the reasons I stopped going. |

Took the kids to the parade Saturday, then hung out at the Hilton for a while and let the kids get pics with some of the characters, And encouraged pics with the super hot ones.
It was fun, the kids loved the parade. There were ALOT of people there. I haven't seen Atlanta that crowded since the Olympics, but everyone was extremely nice and all out for a good time. |

Con was a blast and I met a few Arfcommers on the way. Unfortunately on Sunday night, some prick thought I'd be a good idea to take brass knuckles into the rave and start hitting people. He got my friends girlfriend twice in the face and my friend a few times in the back of the head. After having to run to the lobby to calm them, our friends, and random people, I stayed with them to file the police report and while they got checked my EMS. Luckily there were no major injuries, just some cuts and bruises. Dude's going away for a long time.

Dragon Con Parade Honestly, John only plans two more Posleen books, and isn't in the mood to write them right now. In fact, he's talking about another Special Circumstances book set at Dragon*Con (as the previous Special Circumstances was, Queen of Wands). Other than writing the Black Tide series recently (tailored biological release destroys parts of the brains of it's victims, resulting in zombie-like behavior), he's been working on the next Prince Roger book. He was actually burned out on the Posleen series after _Hell's Faire_ when he decided he'd let my now-ex write about Cally O'Neal, most of what has been written since then was by my ex or Tom Kratman, with varying amounts of input from John, then he wrote _Eye of the Storm_. |

I can definitely understand that..........I am anxious to see what happens after Eye of the Storm.

Yeah... the crowds do seem to be getting bad, but then again, this is only my third time there so my perspective timeline is a little short. I missed several of the sessions I wanted because of long walks or early fill-ups. On the up-side, that made more time for me to treat it like a photo-safari. As soon as I start getting the pics processed, I'll post a few. :-)
