How is the Wilson Shoals range?
ETA-Just found this quote on a Google search.....
"just watch out for the AR15 dot com crowd that shows up with 15 people, 30 guns, and several thousand rounds of ammo. Although I don't think they allow them to dominate the range now that there's a full time RO on the range." |

Creekside is a hell of a nice facility with common sense rules. The only downside is it is a haul from this side of town. I'm in Braselton just south of you and that is what keeps me from going.
Closer to this side of town is Elberton Gun Club. I almost hate to mention it because I don't want everyone to know about it! Known distance rifle range with berms at 100, 200, 300 and 400. Several pits for pistol, rifle, shotgun. Short barrels and suppressors are fin but no FA. If you like shooting clays, you'll end up blasting though a lot of shells out there. Wilson Shoals? No thanks. Even with an RO, I find most people's safe handling of firearms to be severely lacking there. Furthest berm is only (IIRC) 85 yards. Benches are okay. Can't prone out except in the middle of the bench area. Not terrible as far as public ranges but after belonging to a club where you don't have to put up with stupidity, it is really hard to go back to a public range. Mark |
