Did everyone get the amber alert last night on their smartphone?

It fucking woke me up, despite having the "do not disturb" turned on, and I can't tell what allowed it to come through and how to prevent it next time. It's one thing to have the fucking emergency alerts interrupt a tv show - it's on and active. But DND is essentially "off" while allowing alarms and shit to work. If there's no way to turn this off, I'll abandon the platform (iPhone) or service (AT&T) or both.

My iPhone was on vibrate, no sound came through.  My wife's iPhone went off, and she said it scared the dickens out of her.  I never heard hers.  Mine went off again in church, still on vibrate.  One really long vibe, then two short ones, repeated twice.

iPhone - Settings - Notifications - very bottom is 'Government Alerts'

You can turn everything off.... Except Executive Alerts from our Dear Ruler. Can't shut him up.

iphone 5 on AT&T. That noise is horrendous. Woke me and the wife up.

A lot of good it did waking people up for an Amber Alert. Nope, they weren't in my bedroom. Back to bed.

So annoying.

I did not get that one,  but I did receive one a few months ago when I was in a meeting. Pissed me off because the phone was on silent and it still sounded the alarm really loud.

Yep, same here around 2am for both mine and my wife's iPhone. Scared the shit out of me, I came out of bed and grabbed my bedside gun before it dawned on me it was the phone. The alert tone sounded like my home alarm so that was my first thought.

This was a recent upgrade on AT&T, Verizon is doing the same and in both cases you can turn it off...Settings, notifications, Government Alerts (very bottom.) I left my emergency alerts on but turned Amber alerts on.

Nope I turned of Amber alerts on my phone because of the problem with the damn things going off every 10 minutes at night when one is issued.  If you have T-Mobile and a WinMo phone T-Mobile will tell you how to turn them off though they do add "we strongly suggest that you do not".

Woke me up. Had no idea what it was. Took a few minutes to figure out where the noise came from. Work had just issued me a new phone.

The alert came through but I didn't hear anything. I have most things set to vibrate so it may have done that.  I have an android phone from Verizon and haven't seen a government alerts settings page.  I'll have to look for it now.

I didn't even get the alert because I had set my phone to wifi only for whatever reason the other night
