Did everyone get the amber alert last night on their smartphone?
It fucking woke me up, despite having the "do not disturb" turned on, and I can't tell what allowed it to come through and how to prevent it next time. It's one thing to have the fucking emergency alerts interrupt a tv show - it's on and active. But DND is essentially "off" while allowing alarms and shit to work. If there's no way to turn this off, I'll abandon the platform (iPhone) or service (AT&T) or both. |

Yep, same here around 2am for both mine and my wife's iPhone. Scared the shit out of me, I came out of bed and grabbed my bedside gun before it dawned on me it was the phone. The alert tone sounded like my home alarm so that was my first thought.
This was a recent upgrade on AT&T, Verizon is doing the same and in both cases you can turn it off...Settings, notifications, Government Alerts (very bottom.) I left my emergency alerts on but turned Amber alerts on. |

Nope I turned of Amber alerts on my phone because of the problem with the damn things going off every 10 minutes at night when one is issued. If you have T-Mobile and a WinMo phone T-Mobile will tell you how to turn them off though they do add "we strongly suggest that you do not". |
