Hey everyone,

I am going to be in Columbus from the 22nd-31st next week working for the NAIA softball championship.

I am actually driving up and picking up a rifle from my uncle on the 21st around Atlanta.

So my question is , what are some good ranges and stores in the area because I'm already itching to get a free float rail and glass on to shoot it...

No 'public' rifle ranges around here. Shooter's has an indoor pistol range. There was (is?) a club on Ft. Benning for rifle/pistol but I have not heard much about it in the last few years. There is another club in Crawford, AL but not public. Unless you get invited by someone to shoot on one of the above clubs/hunting land/private range your only option is Tuskegee National Forrest which is an hour + drive.

Thanks for the heads up, I guess I'll just shoot it when I'm in Atlanta.

I'll just feed my face and get drunk in Columbus.

I'm 45-60 mins east of Columbus around Macon, and have a private range you could shoot at, especially since I already know you

There are 2 public rifle ranges within 45 minutes of Columbus. Both are on Wildlife Management Areas (WMA).

Big Lazer WMA is just north of Talbotton (ENE of Columbus) and Hannahatchee WMA is south of Columbus between Lumpkin & Richland. To use them you will need to purchase a Georgia Outdoor Recreational Pass (GORP). They have a 3-day and an annual pass option. http://georgiawildlife.org/Georgia-Outdoor-Recreational-Pass Big Lazer only goes to 100 yards but Hannahatchee goes to (supposedly) 175. I think it's more like 150 to be honest.

Bring targets and a staple gun. You can find directions to both on the GA DNR website.

There's a rifle range at Lock, Stock, and Barrel in Grantville, not too far from I-85 about 35 miles south of Atlanta.

If you can find the time drive 50 miles east to Butler, GA and visit Barrow Automotive.  It's one of the best gun stores in the state.

Well hot dog, I may have to go there. Probably a good bet they could help me buy and install a troy trx rail?

I don't think they carry that sort of thing. They are a bit more old school so call first and check. 478-862-5205. They are still worth going to see. It's a Napa Auto Parts Store that opens up into a gun store. The first time, you'll swear there's no way one of the best gun shops in the state is in there.

Barrow sells lots of NFA and black rifles, but is a bit far for guys just picking up accessories, so they don;t stock them heavy.  I was there during the middle of the AR panic and Mr Barrow was selling ARs for $800-$1100, just like before the shortage.

US calvary in CSG sells Troy- note sure if they have what you want.  Ranger Joe's near by has a lot of gear, and shooters has some AR15 stuff

Yeah, I don't think Barrow does any gunsmithing. They definitely don't carry many accessories.

Check out Chattahoochee Brewing Compnay in Phenix City as soon as your cross the 13th St bridge from Columbus. Great craft brew.

Thanks for the tip!

I called around to pretty much every gun store, NO ONE had a troy rail  or low pro gas block
