Yesterday I sold a new Chiappa M4-22 to a customer.

This is the 1st Chiappa M4-22 upper I've sold so please forgive me if I'm asking stupid questions.

He returned it this afternoon because he couldn't charge the bolt.

The rear of the Chiappa bolt is solid rather than slotted like a standard AR bolt.

This is preventing the bolt from going in the buffer tube so it's impossible to charge the rifle.

Did they forget to mill out the rear of the dedicated 22 bolt or am I doing something stupid..???

I thought about notching out the rear of the bolt to solve the problem but that seems to easy.

I was on hold with Chiappa tech support for almost an hour when a recording came on stating they were to busy answer the phone urging me to leave a message. You've got to love that level of customer service.

Are you using a mil spec charging handle?

Do you have any more on your shelves? If so, check one of them out too and see if the bolt carriers are the same. If it doesn't have the slot then it to will not function.

Now that is some crappy service. Even 8000 miles away I do my best to answer emails as timely as possible and Sandy has been there to help out as much as shee can.

I Don't think the BCG uses the buffer tube. When I first got mine the black plastic piece on the BCG was turned the wrong way and it would not charge. It would only go back about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Show me a pic of the BCG and I can tell you if you have the same problem. Easy fix. The spring on the BCG is the buffer spring I think. The black plastic was turned into the slot that runs the length of the BCG. Preventing it from charging. Turned the plastic part out of the slot and worked like a champ.

All the complaints I can find are related to people swapping out the crappy charging handle with a mil-spec one, and the mil-spec will not function.

Got in figured out....

The bolt was in a bind from the manufacturer.

It's a completely self contained bolt and does not use the AR buffer or buffer tube so the notch was not necessary.
