Airplane engines piss me off. In the last 50 Years there has been about .0001% innovation in GA engines because of the damn regs.

Gimme a 172 with a Subaru WRX STi motor...

Honestly, with minor things like fuel injection being good improvements to the piston engined light aircraft, keeping them stone simple is probably a better idea.  Keeps costs down (which are high enough already) and helps keep old airframes flying.

Engine? You don't need no stinking engine!!!  Just get in and do this!
Put on your aviator goggles, grab the yoke, start making engine sounds with the intermittent Ptew, Ptew sounds and a few ratta tatta tatts. Call out bandits.
Continue until adult supervision arrives and makes you get out and come inside for dinner
ETA: I sent you a P.M.

Look at the mount
Someone landed a little rough
ETA:
Pulled the QEC to inspect after prop strike. Judging by the prop, my money is on a bent crank
