After many months on the wait list, I was able to attend the Firearms Safety Class taught by Sandy Springs PD. It was a good experience. They put on a good class. There were many beginners in it and I think they all got a lot out of it.
The Sandy Springs Police Department held a firearms safety class for the public yesterday. The three hour class ran from 6-9 p.m. There were 15 students in the class, including six ladies. It was open to those who live or work in Sandy Springs. Sandy Springs Gun Club and Range was the venue for the class. There was no cost for the class for those who brought their own pistols and ammo. Gun rentals and ammo were available from the range for those who did not own a handgun. Eye and ear protection was provided by the range at no cost.
Handguns were the focus of the class. There were three phases of the training. The first was an initial lecture and discussion on Georgia laws regarding firearms. After the lecture, students had an opportunity to shoot a handgun on the range. And each attendee was given an opportunity to use the Firearms Training Systems (FATSĀ®) machine, a training simulator, in the classroom.
