Anyone know of a good 1911 gunsmith?
Thanks |

John Harrison out in Kennesaw is one of the best in the country in my opinion... He's got a long wait list on full house guns but last I checked he was accepting small jobs.

Harrison Custom Last I checked 3 months ago he's not accepting any new work, including new barrels for pistols he's already built. |

Does anyone know anything about Brian Ott, in Douglasville? I saw his website a while ago but I've never looked him up.

The ones named above are moar than good with a few moar missing...
But, there ain't a da-da-damn thang wrong with calling the Grande Old Man: http://www.alphaprecisioninc.com/ Just don't take a BHP to him like I did in 1981... He's a revolver (Ruger) and 1911 man. EDIT: Looks like he's mellowed out with age. |
| I decided to use Hogleg Smith in Oakwood. He is replacing the FCG in my 1911 norinco. The gun had hammer follow, I took it to him, he tinkered with it, but it still had hammer follow. He suggested replacing fcg, which I was already considering. He said the fcg parts appeared to be worked. I assume the worked parts were the cause of the hammer slamming down when chambering a round on two different occasions. Other than that, the gun had multiple FTE and FTF issues for around 25 rounds. THe next 25 were ok, but nevertheless, I think I might try some WC or Chip mags. This gun was sold to me on a local board as "100% reliable" but it appears to be a total POS. IN the end, with mags and FCG I will have over 750 in it. I got screwed for the first time on the gun boards. |
