| Howdy Folks, What is the good - bad - ugly on 6 flags. Never been there. I do like coasters and such. Will be in the area in the next 2 weeks and thought it might be worth stopping by? |

I take my kids about once or twice per month. Was there yesterday. Crowd was not bad. Yesterday all of the ride lines that I was in were pretty short except for the water rides. The water ride lines were ridiculous. It would have been a hell of a lot better to pour a cup of water on your head and ride one of the coasters.
About 4:00 i stood in line about 5 minutes for mindbender and about 15 minutes for Batman coaster. Some people with us stood in line about 2 hours for Log rider (water) Six Flags atlanta has a good selection of coasters. Scream machine is still a decent old style coaster Mind bender is still a decent older modern style coaster and sometimes in the afternoon you can ride it back to back... A few weeks ago I rode it 8 times in a row with my 5 year old because there was no on in line. Goliath is a great modern coaster Dare devil is a good shorter duration modern coaster with quick small loops and twitst. bat man is a good modern coaster with great rolls superman is a good modern coaster cyclone is a good old style wooden coaster that will shake the hell out of you. |

Ditto to what the above was said. We went last Sunday for my company Family Day. It has gotten more expensive this year. Food and drinks are outrageous. Look at purchasing a souvenir drink mug. $15 to buy and you get free refills the day of purchase. Try to get to the park as soon as they open, usually smaller crowds at first, this will let you knock out the popular rides early.
BIG NOTE: Wear sunblock and try to stay hydrated! Also, they have full body metal scanners at the gate. Just fyi. |

Park near one of the tram stops. It is nice to ge a ride to your car door after a day of walking. I was one of 2 cars by the farthest tram stop when we got there. It was a sea of cars late afternoon when we left.
You get a better discount on the refillable cups if you get 2 or 3 at the same time. Free refills that day. 99 cents(plus tax(stupid)) for this season. ByteTheBullet (-: |

I just had a flashback of why I don't like going to 6 flags. I hate standing in the lines. But if you go during the week, the lines aren't bad. Hydration and sunblock are a must and they are gonna gouge you every chance they get.
Other than that its a great theme park. Mindbender and freefall were always my favorites. The freefall has been replaced by a newer version. Batman and superman are both awesome coasters too. In fact, all of the coasters are great, make sure you hit thunder river too. And you gotta stand on the bridge at splashwater falls. We are actually planning a trip to six flags during halloweekends, they do the park up for Halloween and have trick or treating and monsters walking around. |

Once apon a time, A long time ago....There was no batman, or superman, or cyclone. the mindbender was the best roller coaster at 6 flags, It has 3 loops......3 FREAKING LOOPS MAN, DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT? But then again, I'm just old school I guess. |

Pack a cooler full of ice and drinks, snacks and sandwiches and leave it in your car....unless you want to spend $40 for a personal pizza and $15 for a drink. Food is freaking outrageous AND as an added bonus...it sucks!
You can't bring anything in, but you can go back to your car and tailgate! The next advice will be the best you get so I will type it in bold caps: WEAR PERFORMANCE FABRIC UNDERWEAR RATHER THAN COTTON!!! Cotton drawers will chafe after 6 hours of man-sweat and 20 miles of traversing the park and standing 90 minutes in line for Superman. BRING A TWO STRONG ZIPLOCKS AND WEAR SHORTS WITH CARGO POCKETS!!! That way your wallet, cellphone, and car keys won't get ruined or lost...those lockers are a rip-off and not really as secure as one would hope. I like to keep my important stuff with me and hiking two miles back to your locker is not always the best option. roy d....trust me on the ziplocks and cargo shorts/pants |

Sound advice, follow it. |

The above on the clothing and protection for electronics and wallet are spot on, we have not been in over 7 years, the reason is because of the changing dynamic at the park. The once family orientated place has turned into an all day babysitters heaven, the south metro parents simply drop all the little thugs off at the park for the day, the big thugs ride MARTA to the place, scout the vehicles in the parking lots and so on. After getting caught in the middle of a fight between two different gangs, I de-assed with kids and didnt come back, considering that the last straw. We had season passes for literally decades and have seen the proliferation of the gangs in the park, you can visibly discern the gangs from the different displayed colors on the last 5 to 7 times we were there, park police and security are seldom where they need to be and seem to give these groups a wide berth. The risk and hassle just isnt worth it to us anymore, plus the kids have now grown and seem to understand that the place is not what it use to be. Long gone are the days of the Chevy Show and little day trip getaway that Six Flags of Georgia use to be. I am sure people can find enjoyment at the park as the coasters are pretty good, the food is everywhere and the shows offer a variety of entertainment, but for us the risk and hassle just isnt worth the benefit. FWIW, I have had great success using SmartCarry with a J frame 357 at the park. |

They have a speed pass, It allows your group to bypass the lines and go to the front, On busy days WELL worth the extra money. Eigher get a speed pass on any day one is there, or stand in line and witness priviledged the class doing the speed pass thing for free. Speed pass is fo' suckas. No dime sane? |

OK - so I skipped the 6 flags and hit Wild Adventures instead...45 bucks - including tax for 2 days. 10 bucks to park. No lines - No waiting. Not the newest or greatest coasters, but they were pretty cool just the same. I have been to Cedar Point many times - so I know my rides....For the price and no lines during the week - I give it a solid B grade. The water park is very fun as well.
Thanks for the tips - glad I didn't drive all the way to six flags and spend the extra money... |
